Xylogics SV IPI-2 family of disk controllers brings IPI performancelevels to VMEbus systems. A single disk channel on these controllerssupports data transfers up to 12 MB per second. The SV-6800 (6U formfactor) and SV-6890 (9U) have one IPI-2 disk channel each. The SV-7800(6U) and SV-7890 (9U) have two IPI-2 disk channels each, yielding a totalthroughput of 24 MB per second across the IPI-2 interface.SV IPI-2 controllers achieve significantly higher disk I/O throughput bycombining asynchronous command queuing, multitasking firmware,DYNAThrottle DMA control, a multithreaded cache, intelligent read-ahead,and zero-latency disk operations. Xylogics' new VLSI circuits provide DMArates greater than 35 MB per second and support eight 12-MB-per-seconddisk drives per channel.
